The use of mediation is on the increase in the UK, and with this comes a greater necessity than ever for mediators to prove that they are practising professionally, ethically and safely.  Achieving Registered Mediator status will mean that you can give your potential customers an assurance that you meet the standards laid down by a body of professionals.

To gain registration and be able to call yourself a Registered Mediator requires that you:

  • can show that you adhere to a published code of practice and ethics, and that you are bound by the complaints procedure
  • have achieved a 40-hour nationally accredited qualification
  • have been assessed on mediating actual disputes and meet externally-defined practice standards
  • are undertaking continual professional development
  • and your practice is subject to case supervision.

Other benefits include reduced subscription for indemnity insurance, a detailed entry on the website and use of the logo, use of the title UKRM-Registered Mediator, regular newsletters, discounted rates for advanced training and professional support/opportunities to network with other mediators.
