Leaseholders challenging service charges
Posted: Sep 01 2009

Times Online has recently reported on the challenges that leaseholders and property management companies have when finding common ground with regards to service charges.

In this report, Tony Essien of LEASE (The Leasehold Advisory service based in London) explains how mediation can help and how conflict resolution is encouraged to find a way forward. Having worked with LEASE for many years, UK Mediation supports both housing and homelessness organisations in trying to reach agreements between parties whenever possible. This can maintain the relationship between landlord and tenant and, in hard times, can resolve disputes prior to more formal action being taken or when individuals are already in a vulnerable position.
