£33 billion per year - the cost of workplace disputes

Up-to-date research from Nabarro states that £33 billion per year is the cost of workplace disputes to the UK economy, and yet two-thirds of employers are failing to educate staff in early dispute resolution methods.

Findings of this recent research confirms many other reports stating that the current statutory dispute regulations are simply not working. Managers and front-line staff are not being trained in the appropriate skills to deal with conflict in the workplace, contrary to being considered the very people who should be able to "nip disputes in the bud".

Other than financial implications and the loss of management time spent dealing with disputes, both employee morale and an organisation's reputation were also considered to be seriously affected.
