The Employment Bill - stay one step ahead
Posted: Nov 15 2007

The pending Employment Bill is treating early dispute resolutions procedures as a priority in order to reduce the financial and administrative burden caused by the current unsatisfactory and confusing recommendations.

It is suggested that a new package of replacement measures be introduced, making the grievance process much easier for managers to follow, and encouraging early and informal resolution.

Forming part of a wider programme to implement the Gibbons Review, the Dispute Resolution Review (DRR) hopes to simplify procedures, help resolve disputes at an earlier stage, and improve the way tribunals work.

Mediation training will become vital for HR professionals and managers, as this is at the very heart of early dispute resolution. It is probable that an increasing number of organisations will acknowledge the need for a new set of skills to allow them to deal with grievances and disputes within their environment. Keeping one step ahead, and organising the necessary training now, will ensure your HR function is well equipped to deal with any new recommendations.
