Free Lunchtime Seminars

UK Mediation offers a series of free lunchtime seminars, which you are welcome to attend. These take place at public venues around the country at different times of the year, and give you an opportunity to find out more about how mediation is currently used for resolving workplace and commercial disputes.

Our lunchtime seminars:

last for around 1½ hours
begin with a presentation by a practising mediator
show extracts from a DVD of a typical workplace dispute
include a discussion of HR and legislative issues relating to mediation
give details on how to train or qualify as a mediator
offer the opportunity for a thorough Question & Answer session
conclude with a free buffet lunch!
Numbers are limited at these popular events, and only 2 members from the same organisation may attend.

If you would like us to come to your organisation to make a lunchtime presentation on mediation, please contact us to arrange this. Alternatively, please complete a booking form to secure your place.

Consultation Days & Awareness Seminars

If you or your organisation have six or more individuals who would like to know more about mediation, then we will visit you for either a full or half day, at a venue of your choice.  Consultation days are provided on an 'expenses only' basis, so your time with a practising mediator is completely free of charge.

Consultation days are specifically designed for groups of individuals wishing to gain some awareness of mediation issues, or organisations considering training employees as mediators, or setting up in-house services.  The tutor-mediator assigned to your organisation will tailor the session to your particular needs, and will advise you on any aspect of mediation, training, or service set-up that you require.

Your time will be a combination of presentation, Question & Answer sessions, and joint-consultation with specific reference to the needs of you, and your organisation.  Please contact us for an informal chat, or for more details.

Will mediation work for you?

Many of our enquirers have thought about using mediation, but are unsure whether their particular dispute would lend itself to a mediated settlement.

For workplace disputes, UK Mediation has assembled a number of frequently-asked questions, which we hope you find helpful in deciding whether to try mediation for a workplace dispute.

For commercial disputes, we have also assembled a number of frequently-asked questions

If your particular question is not answered here, we would invite you to contact us for an informal discussion of your particular issue.

DVD-based resources on mediation

We have a produced a DVD-based training package called "Train to Mediate"TM, based around a typical workplace 'personality clash', showing how a manager would use mediation skills to respond to the situation, and how trained mediators would work with a this type of dispute.

This is for trainers, HR professionals and others who want to run their own training courses in-house for staff and managers.

This package will provide an introduction to mediation skills for those wishing to familiarise themselves with the use of mediation in the workplace.  If you would like to register an interest in this package, please contact us to be added to receive more information.
