UK Mediation were commissioned by Durham University to run the 4-day Mediation Practitioner’s Certificate in March/April 2009 and have since been asked to run a one-day Bullying Awareness Programme.
A mixture of H.R. managers and managers from the Academic Office attended the Practitioner’s Certificate in March/April 2009 in order to explore and develop the skills associated with mediation. The course facilitator ensured that the course was not only challenging and informative but also highly relevant. The programme involved a number of pertinent case-studies and offered plenty of opportunities to practice skills. The trainer also gave extremely valuable advice on how to complete the portfolio of evidence to enable participants to gain the level 3 qualification through the Open College Network.

I thought the trainer was highly skilled and that greatly assisted in setting the right atmosphere and a creative learning environment. We received training from UK Mediation in May 2009 to assist staff in managing problems between service users and staff and between staff. The training provided was highly relevant, giving ample opportunity to learn and develop the necessary skills for this important role.
Our trainer was excellent in presenting and teaching the diverse group of staff, from administrative, management and clinical. The training was delivered in a well paced and active way, with role play and discussion the main tool. The content was completely appropriate to our needs, and the accreditation added value. We are planning to engage UK Mediation later this year to provide refresher training and additional staff training.
